When you're on the road with people that are riding on a bicycle, this can turn into a challenging event pretty quickly. You would hope that the person riding the bike is following a number of safety rules, but anything can happen in the blink of an eye. Here are some useful tips that will keep everyone safe:
  • If you need to pass a person that is on a bike, you should leave at least 4 feet in between the two of you.
  • Make sure that you leave enough space in between you and a bike rider if you are behind them.
  • Watch for their hand signals. They should be letting you know when they will be turning.
  • A bicycle is considered to be a vehicle, so you are expected to yield to them at stop signs, intersections, etc.
  • Be considerate towards everyone that is on the road with you.
